Why should I take a diabetes self management class?

When faced with a chronic disease, a healthy attitude is: ‘I’m in control’. This is even more so with diabetes because it is a self managed disease. While there is a team approach ie, doctor, diabetes educator and dietitian, self management on a daily basis is the key.

Attending a class will put you in control by providing you with the necessary tools that include knowledge about diabetes, skill building, problem solving, and developing coping skills for overcoming barriers to your care. These will help you gain confidence and self motivation to ask the right questions and perform important self care behaviors.
