From 2001 to 2003 diabetes prevalence increased nationally for those age 65 and over from 14.6 % to 16.6%. In California, for that same age group in all ethnic groups, diabetes increased from 15.1% to 16.5% .
Only Orange County had a significant increase in the proportion of persons with diabetes of adults age 18 and over, from 4.6 percent in 2001 to 6.8 percent in 2003 diabetes between 2001 and 2003.
